Heritage Titles  Heritage Tiles

Clay, one of the most enduring and appealing of roofing materials, became desirable for its mellow appearance and weathering properties. Its popularity as a roof covering was enhanced by its unique ability to be pressed into a multitude of shapes and designs. This enabled past designers to create an endless landscape of decorative roofs through the inclusion of ornate finials, ridges, hips and decorative vertical tiles.

When these historically important buildings are in need of maintenance or renovation, Sandtoft's Heritage Service provides a manufacturing and design resource to meet this specialised need. Old tile designs can be copied and reproduced faithfully to match originals, using methods which meet the demands of conservation and heritage bodies.

Sandtoft's team of Heritage craftsmen have received widespread acclaim from specifiers for the authenticity of work undertaken. They have helped restore some of the country's most historically significant and well-loved buildings. A small sample of these include:

  • Crown Estate, Sandringham
  • Eton College
  • Cambridge University Library
  • Victoria and Albert Museum
  • Minley Manor, MoD College
  • Silwood Manor, Imperial College
  • London Zoo
  • Caldey Island Monastery, Pembrokeshire
  • Settle and Carlisle Railway station buildings
  • Holy Name Church, Manchester
  • St Columba's Church, Glasgow
